Quick Stop in Glasgow

Glasgow may be one of those cities for us that are better left to a few photographs and memories of a soothing last meal. Albeit beautiful, half of our one day there was spent sitting in a clinic trying to score a round of antibiotics to clear up an oncoming ear infection. The other half was a mad dash to the other side of town in a bone chilling rain to check out the Glasgow Cathedral and Necropolis

We did land some nose drops in lieu of the antibiotics, and finished the day with a surprisingly good meal at Max's Bar / La Cheetah before jumping the West Highland Line to Fort William. More to come from there as our day stomping around the Nevis Range was perfection.

The Glasgow Cathedral was the only Scottish church to survive the Reformation intact. It's also called St Mungo's Cathedral. John Knox, father of the Protestant Reformation, is buried here.

The building above sits over a lower church and tombs that span the same footprint. Altogether it's a pretty massive structure.

The Glasgow Necropolis is a Victorian garden cemetery adjacent to the cathedral.

50,000 people are buried within the 37 acre area. All the tombstones are beautifully aged and covered in moss. Especially under overcast skies, there is a decaying beauty in the silence there.
